We have an exciting opportunity for a fixed term Pharmacy Technician to join our Primary Care team at HMP Oakwood, a category C Prison located in Wolverhampton.

HMP Oakwood is one of the largest prison in the UK, housing over 1,500 men.

The Pharmacy Team consists of 10 Pharmacy Techs, 2 Pharmacy Assistants.

There are 3 main houseblocks which have two dispensaries to work out of and three smaller units with one dispensary.

This is a fixed term contract until April 2027

The site offers:

Hours:

Monday - Sunday service
37.5 hours per week
Shifts covering between 7am - 6pm
8 week rolling rota
Every other weekend

Salary:

Between £29,264 - £33,510 per annum depending on experience.

What you'll be doing

As a Pharmacy Technician, your responsibilities will vary. You will

Ensuring patient medical records are maintained to the agreed standard at all times and ensuring standard operating procedures are followed to a high and orderly standard.
Ensuring timely administration of medicines through to analysing cost effective prescribing as defined through our unique health in justice medicines policy.
Work together to make a difference to all the people we support, and make Practice Plus Group, a place where each of us feels appreciated, challenged and supported to do our best work – fulfilling the lives of others.
Communicate complex or sensitive information whilst demonstrating empathy and understanding to patients.
Share information relating to pharmaceutical products, medicines optimisation, drug regimes, medicines legislation and general health education so that the multidisciplinary healthcare team are appropriately informed.

You will hold NVQ Level 3, BTEC, or equivalent qualifications and have current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPHC)

Although not essential ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
