Senior Finance Assistant

Salary: Up to £40,000

Kings Fine Cooked Meats is a well-established meat manufacturing business based in the Town of Wigan for over 130 years.

We currently employ around 160 employees across our factory and offices, working together to provide high quality products to our customers.

We have a diverse range of customers, from the NHS and schools to leading brands such as Wagamama and Jet2. We also work with some of the UK’s most prestigious venues and events including Royal Ascot, Wimbledon and Buckingham Palace.

As part of our commitment to social responsibility, we actively support various local charities including Wigan Youth Zone and The Brick.

Job Specification

We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive finance assistant to join our accounts team. This position is to support the Finance Manager with maintaining accurate financial records, support process improvements and ensuring the smooth running of the daily finance functions.

Key Responsibilities

Full ownership of daily and monthly bank reconciliations
Active cashflow monitoring and reporting
Processing and managing supplier payments
Performing detailed revenue reconciliations
Supporting month-end close
Assisting in improving finance processes and controls
Calculation of monthly overriders.
Maintenance of fixed asset schedules and calculation of depreciation
Completion of ONS surveys when necessary
Assistance with year end audit
Provide cover to Sales/Purchase Ledger when required
Provide cover to Payroll when required

Requirements

AAT Qualified
Strong IT Skills including competence in Microsoft Office and experience using accounting software (Preferably Sage 200)
Experience supporting month end processes
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Confident written and verbal communication skills, with a strong focus on delivering excellent customer service.
Ability to manage workload and meet deadlines
Knowledge of payroll processes and procedures
Flexible and adaptable to the needs of the business, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
