About us

UCL is London’s global university. LCCOS – Library, Culture, Collections and Open Science – provides outstanding staff, services and resources to support the world-class research, education and enterprise that is undertaken in UCL, and connects the world with UCL through innovative programming and engagement activities. LCCOS is acknowledged as an international leader in Open Science and Scholarship. The LCCOS family comprises 4 museums and allied object collections, 14 libraries, the UCL Student Centre, Special Collections facilities, multiple additional learning spaces and a substantial off-site storage facility. We also provide comprehensive services to healthcare staff through our partnerships with 6 NHS Trusts. LCCOS holds the UK Customer Service Excellence (CSE) Award, The National Archives (TNA) Archives Service Accreditation, and Arts Council England Museum Accreditation. The combined staff in UCL LCCOS totals around 450.

About the role

Liaison and Support Services, within LCCOS, underpin learning, teaching and research across UCL departments through a range of services, including skills training and teaching delivered by a virtual team of colleagues from across LCCOS. Working closely with the Head of Library Skills and other LCCOS colleagues, the Library Skills Developer develops and delivers library skills initiatives. The post holder will be contributing to a scheduled programme of online and face-to-face training, support materials, inductions, projects and other initiatives.

A key focus of the role is developing online skills provision, including the application of generative AI (GenAI), and supporting colleagues in the effective use of digital technologies. The postholder also delivers tailored library skills support for academic departments through inductions, skills training, individual consultations and responses to subject-specific enquiries.

Flexible Working Statement:

We will consider applications to work on a part-time, flexible and job share basis wherever possible.

This role is eligible for hybrid working with a minimum of 40% on site.

This role does not meet the eligibility requirements for a Skilled Worker Visa certificate of sponsorship under UK Visas and Immigration legislation. Therefore, UCL will not be able to sponsor individuals who require right to work in the UK to carry out this role.

About you

The role is 0.6 FTE part time. The Annual salary is pro rata for part time roles which is equivalent to £26,388.60.

We are looking for candidates who in particular have the following experience and skills:

Significant experience of working in an academic library, in a user support role.
Experience of designing, delivering and evaluating information literacy training, including the use of reference management software, and related materials, in both a face-to-face environment, and online.
Experience of using digital tools for creating online learning resources, such as webpages, videos and / or online tutorials and an awareness of digital accessibility requirements.
Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, and the ability to liaise effectively with staff and students throughout UCL.

This is a part-time role working 0.6FTE. The work pattern for the role will be agreed with the line manager.
