Full job description

IT Technician – Secondary School

Location: Birmingham
Contract: Temporary ongoing
Hours: Full-time, 5 days per week
Start Date: Immediate

IT Technician – Immediate Start

We are currently working with a welcoming and well-established secondary school who are looking to appoint an experienced and reliable IT Technician to join their team on a full-time basis, 5 days per week, with an immediate start.

This is an excellent opportunity for an IT professional who enjoys working in a busy school environment and wants to play an important role in supporting both staff and students with their day-to-day technology needs.

The Role

As an IT Technician, you will provide first and second-line technical support across the school, ensuring that IT systems, hardware and software are operating effectively.

Your responsibilities will include:

Providing 1st and 2nd line technical support to staff and students
Troubleshooting hardware, software and network issues
Setting up and maintaining computers, laptops, tablets and other IT equipment
Supporting Microsoft 365 and Windows environments
Managing user accounts and permissions, including Active Directory
Supporting printers, interactive whiteboards and classroom technology
Assisting with network and Wi-Fi troubleshooting
Installing and configuring software and hardware
Logging and managing support requests
Ensuring IT equipment is maintained and ready for use
Supporting the school's wider IT infrastructure and systems
Providing a friendly and professional service to staff and students

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have:

Previous experience working in an IT Technician, IT Support or ICT Technician role
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Good knowledge of Windows and Microsoft 365
Experience with Active Directory
An understanding of networks, Wi-Fi, DNS and DHCP
Excellent communication and customer service skills
The ability to work independently as well as part of a team
A patient, approachable and professional manner
Experience working within a school or education environment would be highly desirable, but is not essential
