Full job description

Part-Time HR & Compliance Officer

Company: Impulse Deals Ltd
Location: Fully remote within the UK
Employment type: Part-time employee (PAYE)
Pay: £15–£25 per hour, depending on experience
Hours: Approximately 20–30 hours during the first month, followed by 5–15 hours per month. Hours may occasionally increase during recruitment or compliance activity.

About Impulse Deals

Impulse Deals Ltd is a small UK e-commerce company with a team of 2–3 people. As the business grows, we are formalising our HR arrangements and creating a practical, well-organised people system.

The role

We are looking for an experienced HR generalist to establish and maintain our HR system.

Your main responsibilities will be managing HR documentation, employee records and recruitment processes. If the company applies for a sponsor licence, you will also take on formal sponsor-compliance responsibilities as a secondary part of your role.

This position would suit someone who has previously built straightforward HR processes for a small UK business and is comfortable working independently.

First-month responsibilities

During the initial setup period, you will:

Establish a secure and organised HR filing system
Review or create employment contracts and written employment particulars
Create onboarding, probation and offboarding processes
Establish holiday, sickness and absence procedures
Prepare essential policies covering conduct, equality, disciplinary and grievance matters, confidentiality, data protection and record retention
Create a compliant Right-to-Work checking process, evidence log and follow-up-check tracker
Establish recruitment records, including job advert, screening, interview and decision templates
Create a monthly HR and compliance calendar
Prepare short, practical HR procedures for managers and employees
Identify any gaps in the company’s existing HR arrangements

Ongoing responsibilities

Following the initial setup, you will:

Maintain accurate and confidential personnel records
Support recruitment, screening, interviews, offers and onboarding
Complete Right-to-Work checks for new employees
Monitor probation, holidays, sickness and employee-detail changes
Prepare starter, leaver and payroll-change information
Keep contracts, policies, trackers and procedures up to date
Support straightforward employee-relations and leave queries
Produce a short monthly HR and compliance summary
Maintain secure and GDPR-conscious handling of employee information

Sponsor licence responsibilities

Impulse Deals Ltd intends to apply for a Worker sponsor licence as well

Essential requirements

Practical HR generalist experience within a UK small business or start-up
Experience establishing HR documentation and processes from scratch
Working knowledge of UK employment practices and Right-to-Work checks
Ability to maintain accurate, confidential and audit-ready records
Confidence using Google Drive, Google Sheets or a lightweight HR system
Strong written English and the ability to produce clear procedures
Ability to work independently in a remote role
Must be a settle person in uk

A valid National Insurance number and Right-to-Work evidence will be requested only during pre-employment checks. Please do not include sensitive identity documents, share codes or your National Insurance number with your application.

Desirable experience

Experience preparing a company for an audit or compliance inspection
CIPD qualification or equivalent practical HR experience
Experience supporting an e-commerce or remote business
