Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Commis Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in food preparation and cooking, with a keen eye for food safety and hygiene standards. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your culinary skills within a professional hospitality environment, working alongside experienced chefs to deliver exceptional dining experiences. The successful applicant will be committed to teamwork, leadership, and maintaining high standards of quality in all aspects of food production.

Responsibilities

Assist senior chefs in preparing and cooking a variety of dishes according to established recipes and standards
Support the food production process by ensuring ingredients are prepared efficiently and accurately
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area in compliance with food safety regulations
Supervise junior team members when required, providing guidance and support in food preparation and service
Ensure all food is prepared and presented to meet quality standards before service
Contribute to the development of new menu items and culinary innovations
Assist in stock control, including receiving deliveries and storing ingredients appropriately
Uphold health and safety policies at all times, ensuring a safe working environment for all staff

Qualifications

Proven experience in a kitchen environment, ideally within a restaurant or hospitality setting
Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and food safety standards
Supervising experience or leadership qualities are desirable but not essential; willingness to develop management skills is important
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure
Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
Passion for culinary arts and a commitment to continuous learning and professional development
Previous experience in food production, restaurant service, or hospitality is highly advantageous
