Full job description

An exciting opportunity has become available to work within Business Support and Finance in the Adult Social Care department. There are 2 full time positions available, 37 hours per week over a Monday to Friday working pattern. One position will be in the East of the borough, based at Macclesfield Town Hall and one in the South, based at Delamere House, Crewe.

About you

The Financial Co-ordinator applies the Council’s financial and charging policies for Adult Social Care clients through the delivery of efficient and effective information and advice. They assess a customer’s ability to pay towards care services, monitor and prevent debt, provide welfare benefit advice to maximise income, support the Direct Payment offer, and deliver robust financial guidance and support.

The successful applicant will be enthusiastic, reliable, and a strong communicator who can work both independently and as part of a team. As the role involves handling sensitive financial information, a high level of accuracy and attention to detail is essential.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

A minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent), including Maths and English
Experience working in an office or customer-focused environment, ideally with vulnerable individuals or within social care
Experience of maintaining accurate records and managing customer financial information, including debt monitoring
Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial matters clearly and sensitively
A strong customer focus and ability to provide high-quality information and advice
Ability to manage a high-volume workload and prioritise effectively
Good attention to detail and ability to carry out financial assessments and calculations
Knowledge (or willingness to learn) relevant legislation and policies (e.g. Care Act, welfare benefits, charging policies)
Ability to use multiple IT systems and maintain accurate digital records
A proactive, flexible and self-motivated approach, with the ability to adapt to change
Commitment to teamwork, supporting colleagues and contributing to service improvements

Desirable:

NVQ Level 3 in financial or business administration (or equivalent experience)
Experience in welfare benefits advice, financial assessments, or social care finance
