Job Summary

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our team and make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and young people. In this role, you will provide compassionate support, encouragement, and guidance to help individuals develop their skills, confidence, and independence. Your energy and positive attitude will foster a safe, nurturing environment where every child feels valued and empowered to reach their full potential. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth and well-being of young people while gaining valuable experience in a supportive setting.

Essential Requirements

Proven experience in domiciliary (home-based) care settings.
Demonstrable experience supporting individuals with autism, learning disabilities, and epilepsy.
Full, valid UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle — this is a mandatory requirement for the role.

Responsibilities

Build trusting relationships with children and young people, offering mentorship and emotional support.
Assist with daily activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and recreational outings.
Support children in developing social skills, independence, and life skills through engaging activities and teaching moments.
Provide informed, person-centred support to individuals with autism, learning disabilities, and epilepsy, including awareness of seizure management and safety protocols.
Collaborate with colleagues, families, and other professionals to create tailored support plans that meet individual needs.
Encourage positive behavior and reinforce boundaries through consistent guidance and encouragement.
Maintain accurate records of progress, incidents, and daily activities in accordance with organizational policies.
Promote a safe environment by monitoring activities and ensuring health and safety protocols are followed at all times.
Travel to service users' homes and community locations as required by the role.

Skills

Essential: Prior experience working in domiciliary care.
Essential: Experience supporting children or young people with autism, learning disabilities, and epilepsy.
Essential: Full driving licence with access to a vehicle.
Strong mentoring abilities with a genuine passion for supporting children's development.
Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with children, families, and team members.
Ability to teach new skills patiently and adapt approaches to meet individual needs.
Compassionate nature with a proactive attitude towards problem-solving and conflict resolution.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team in a dynamic environment.
Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and commitment to maintaining a safe space for all individuals.
