We are seeking an experienced and passionate Area Manager to join our senior leadership team and help drive the continued success and growth of our supported living services across West Sussex and Kent.

Working closely with the Managing Director Operations Manager, Strategic Manager, and ILSS Members, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining high quality, person-centred services while supporting innovation, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

As a key ambassador for the organisation, you will champion our values, support our managers to achieve outstanding outcomes, and ensure the people we support receive safe, high-quality, and empowering services.

About the Role

The Area Manager will provide inspirational leadership to Service Managers, ensuring services operate efficiently, effectively and in full compliance with regulatory and legislative requirements.

A key element of this position is acting as the CQC Registered Manager for our Supported Living Services (ILSS), taking responsibility for maintaining high standards of care, governance, and quality assurance across the region.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

Lead and support Service Managers across multiple services.
Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and statutory requirements.
Promote the organisation's vision, values, and culture through positive leadership.
Participate in the senior management on-call rota.
Represent the organisation at sector forums, provider groups, and external meetings.

Quality & Compliance

Support the delivery of high-quality, person-centred services.
Conduct regular announced and unannounced service audits and inspections.
Develop and monitor improvement plans to enhance quality and performance.
Ensure compliance with CQC regulations, the Health and Social Care Act 2008 and Fundamental Standards.
Work closely with senior leaders to analyse quality assurance data and drive continuous improvement.

People Leadership

Provide coaching, support, and supervision to Service Managers.
Conduct performance reviews and set objectives aligned to organisational goals.
Identify training and development needs and support professional growth.
Drive employee engagement, retention, and high-performance working practices.

Service Development

Support the development and mobilisation of new services.
Work collaboratively on customer assessments, transitions, and risk management.
Contribute to strategic planning and innovative service delivery models.
Lead the implementation and adoption of digital systems and technology across services.

Health & Safety

Support managers in identifying and addressing health and safety risks.
Ensure services maintain safe environments for customers, employees, and visitors.
Work alongside specialist Health & Safety professionals to achieve compliance.

About You

You will be an experienced care leader with a strong understanding of supported living services and regulatory requirements. You will be confident managing multiple services, leading change and developing high-performing teams.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Health and Social Care (or equivalent).
Minimum two years' management experience within health and social care.
Strong working knowledge of:
CQC Regulations
Care Act
Mental Capacity Act 2005
Employment Law
Health & Safety legislation
Experience working within policies, procedures, and regulatory frameworks.
Ability and willingness to become the CQC Registered Manager.
Experience managing key performance indicators, including occupancy, agency spend and workforce retention.
Good IT and digital systems knowledge.
Demonstrable experience leading organisational change and service improvement.
