Soft Services Assistant Manager

Salary: Up to £29,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Location: Sand Hutton, York
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, flexibility required in line with business needs

At 14forty, we're passionate about creating safe, welcoming and high-performing workplaces where people can thrive. We're looking for a dedicated Soft Services Assistant Manager to support the delivery of outstanding facilities services at our site in Sand Hutton, York.

This is a varied and hands-on role where no two days are the same. You'll work closely with the Facilities Manager to oversee a range of essential workplace services, including catering, security, reception, cleaning, porterage, logistics and events, helping to ensure every colleague, visitor and customer experiences exceptional service every day.

What you'll be doing

As Soft Services Assistant Manager, you'll play a key role in the day-to-day operation of the site, supporting a team of colleagues and specialist contractors to deliver consistently high standards.

Your responsibilities will include:

Supporting the management of workplace services delivered at the site
Leading and motivating frontline teams to deliver excellent customer experiences.
Monitoring service performance and ensuring compliance with site procedures and service standards.
Supporting the management of contractors and service partners, ensuring KPIs and SLAs are achieved.
Acting as a key contact for internal stakeholders, visitors and customers.
Coordinating event support and ensuring meeting spaces are set up efficiently and professionally.
Ensuring cleaning services are delivered effectively, including quality audits, stock management and compliance with COSHH requirements.
Supporting health & safety activities, including inspections, risk assessments and safe systems of work.
Helping to drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance operational performance and customer satisfaction.
Deputising for the Facilities Manager when required.

Who we're looking for

We're looking for a proactive and customer-focused leader who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in delivering outstanding service.

You'll ideally have:

Previous experience within facilities management, workplace services or a soft services environment.
Experience supervising or leading teams across one or more service lines such as cleaning, security, reception, hospitality or porterage.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks effectively.
A sound understanding of health & safety requirements within a facilities environment.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Experience managing contractors and monitoring service performance.
Confidence using Microsoft Office and facilities management systems.
A positive, solutions-focused approach with a genuine passion for service excellence.
