Full job description

Job Title: Parts & Workshop Controller

Reports to: Business Manager

Purpose of the Role

Responsible for the timely ordering of parts for a busy workshop, containing four technicians. Supporting the generation of quotes. Maintaining a smooth flow of work through the workshop. Ultimately being a key support for the business manager.

This role is central to keeping the workshop organised, productive and operating efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

Parts Management

Source and order parts from approved suppliers.
Ensure parts are available & correct before work is due to commence.
Chase outstanding deliveries and resolve supply issues.
Check deliveries for accuracy and quality.
Manage warranty returns, supplier credits and returned parts.
Maintain accurate stock levels of commonly used items.
Keep the parts store organised and efficient.

Workshop Operations

Work closely with the Business Manager to ensure work progresses efficiently.
Monitor vehicle progress and highlight any delays or issues.
Ensure customer collection times are achieved wherever possible.
Assist in organising workshop priorities to maximise productivity.
Help maintain a safe, organised and professional workshop environment.
Liaise daily with technicians regarding parts requirements. Ensure technicians have the information and resources required to complete repairs efficiently.
Check vehicles are complete, clean and ready for handover.

Technical Support

Carry out diagnostic scans using manufacturer and aftermarket diagnostic equipment where appropriate.
Assist technicians with fault-finding and technical information where required.

Skills & Experience:

Essential

Experience within the motor trade.
Excellent organisational skills.
Strong attention to detail.
Good communication skills.
Good computer literacy.
Ability to prioritise and work under pressure.
Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable

Experience in a workshop control or parts department.
Knowledge of Porsche vehicles.
Experience using workshop management systems.

Pay: £35,000.00 per year
