Full job description

Fixed Term, Full Time until March 2027

At Bristol City Council, we are committed to using data and insight to shape better outcomes for our workforce and the communities we serve. We’re looking for an HR Analytics Officer to join our HR team and help turn workforce data into meaningful, actionable insight.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with data and wants to make a real impact by supporting evidence-based decision-making across the organisation.

What You'll be doing:

You will play a key role in supporting the development of workforce analytics and helping colleagues understand what the data is telling us.

In this role, you will:

Analyse complex workforce data and provide clear, accurate insight
Work with colleagues to develop a range of reports, including regular, ad-hoc
Support the development of systems and methods for collecting and analysing workforce data
Work with stakeholders to understand their needs and tailor analysis accordingly
Present findings in a way that is easy to understand, both in writing and verbally
Keep up to date with developments in HR analytics and contribute to continuous improvement

You’ll work closely with colleagues across HR and the wider organisation, helping ensure data is used effectively to support planning and decision-making.

What we’re looking for:

We’re looking for someone with strong analytical skills who can communicate clearly and effectively with a range of stakeholder

You will be able to demonstrate:

Experience of working with data using tools such as spreadsheets, databases or business intelligence systems
The ability to interpret requirements and provide relevant, meaningful analysis
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience of developing reports or approaches to presenting data
An understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion in the workplace
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and a willingness to learn new systems

It would be helpful, but not essential, if you also have a relevant qualification or experience building effective working relationships across teams.

You’ll be someone who is able to work in a structured way, analyse information and use data to support decision-making. You have strong problem-solving skills and are able to turn complex information into something clear and useful for others.
