Finance Officer

Feering, near Colchester

Office based, with hybrid option

Salary: £35,000–£40,000 per annum

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm

Are you an organised and detail-focused finance professional looking to play a key role in supporting a values-led adult social care organisation?

Calm Futures provide specialist supported living, residential and outreach support for adults with learning disabilities, autism, physical disabilities, acquired brain injuries, mental health needs and complex needs. What you’ll be doing

Working as part of the finance team, you will support accurate financial administration, reporting and day-to-day finance processes across the organisation. You will help ensure records are maintained, invoices and payments are processed efficiently, and managers have the information they need to make informed decisions.

· Process purchase invoices, sales invoices, payments and receipts accurately and on time.

· Maintain finance records, ledgers and reconciliations, ensuring information is complete and up to date.

· Support month-end processes, management accounts preparation and financial reporting.

· Assist with payroll, expenses, petty cash and supplier queries where required.

· Work closely with operational colleagues to resolve finance queries and support good financial control.

· Help maintain compliance with internal procedures, audit requirements and statutory obligations.

· Contribute to improvements in finance systems, processes and ways of working.

About you

You will be a reliable and proactive finance professional with strong attention to detail, good organisational skills and the confidence to work with colleagues across the business. You will be comfortable handling financial information accurately and confidentially.

· Experience in a finance, accounts or bookkeeping role.

· Good understanding of purchase ledger, sales ledger, reconciliations and general finance administration.

· Strong accuracy, numeracy and attention to detail.

· Confident using finance systems and Microsoft Excel.

· Able to manage priorities, meet deadlines and communicate clearly with colleagues and suppliers.

· Values-led approach with integrity, discretion and a commitment to supporting high-quality, person-centred care.

Required qualifications and skills

· A recognised finance, accounting or bookkeeping qualification, or evidence of working towards one, such as AAT.

· Previous experience in a finance officer, accounts assistant, bookkeeping or similar finance administration role.

· Sound knowledge of purchase ledger, sales ledger, bank reconciliations, invoicing and payment processes.

· Strong Microsoft Excel skills and confidence using finance or accounting systems.

· Excellent numeracy, accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to work to deadlines.

· Good communication skills, with the ability to liaise professionally with colleagues, suppliers and external contacts.

· Ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion and integrity.
