Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Cook/Chef to join our Health team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing high-quality dishes, supervising kitchen staff, and ensuring the smooth operation of the kitchen. This role offers an exciting opportunity for individuals with a strong background in food production, culinary arts, and team management to contribute to a vibrant hospitality environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate leadership, knowledge of budgeting, food safety expertise, a commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences and a knowledge of IDDSI levels within the care environment

Duties

Prepare and cook a variety of dishes in accordance with menu specifications and quality standards
Supervise and manage kitchen staff, including training and mentoring junior team members
Oversee food production processes to ensure efficiency, consistency, and safety
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area in compliance with health and safety regulations
Manage inventory levels, order supplies, and ensure proper storage of ingredients
Preparing modifications of food levels
Monitor food presentation and quality control throughout the preparation process
Enforce food safety standards and hygiene practices at all times
Assist in menu planning and development based on seasonal ingredients and customer preferences
Serve dishes when required, providing excellent customer service

Requirements

Proven experience in a kitchen environment, ideally within healthcare settings
Supervising experience is highly desirable, demonstrating leadership capabilities
Strong skills in food preparation, cooking techniques, and food presentation
Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in hygiene management
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
Team management experience with the ability to motivate and lead a diverse team
Good understanding of menu development, budgeting and ingredient sourcing
Previous experience in healthcare environments is preferred
Ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining high standards of quality and service
