Full job description

The Park Medical Centre are seeking a reliable and flexible Medical Receptionist to join our supportive and friendly team. The Medical Receptionist will be responsible for providing excellent customer service to patients, managing patient appointments, and performing various administrative tasks within our fast‑paced working environment. Applicants should be courteous, highly motivated, pro‑active and good team players, able to project a professional, positive and friendly image to patients/visitors.

We have two shift patters available.

The available post is 20 hours at National Minimum Wage.

Shift pattern 1:

Monday - 8:00am - 12:00

Tuesday - 8:00am - 12:00

Wednesday - 8:00am - 12:00

Thursday - 2:30pm - 6:30pm

Friday - 8:00am - 12:00

Shift Pattern 2:

Monday - 3pm - 6:30pm

Tuesday - 3pm - 6:30pm

Wednesday - 3pm - 6:30pm

Thursday - 1:30pm - 6:30pm

Friday - 2pm - 6:30pm

There is also an afternoon shift pattern available

There will be set shifts as above, but at times we will ask for flexibility.

Once trained, there may be future opportunities to work in our enhanced hours clinics for those seeking some extra hours at an enhanced pay rate.
We also offer an excellent NHS Pension.

Main Responsibilities (not exhaustive)

Reception duties
Outbound and inbound telephone calls
Greeting and checking in patients at the front desk
Data inputting
Key holder duties – opening and closing the surgery
Receiving and processing letters/emails
Coding
Contributing to the high standards that support our Google‑rated 4.2 GP Practice

Preferable Skills

EMIS Web experience (training can be provided)
Calm, patient‑focused approach — able to remain composed, understanding, and reassuring when supporting patients, even in challenging or busy situations
Strong administrative skills with excellent attention to detail
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office
A positive, can‑do attitude
Strong team player
Ability to multitask and prioritise effectively
Exceptional customer service skills with a friendly and professional manner
Commitment to maintaining the reputation reflected in our 4.2 Google rating
