What is the opportunity
Arlington Fleet Services Limited is a successful engineering Company based in Eastleigh. We are now looking for an experienced Storeman to join us in a busy high-volume Stores Team which supports our employees, and external Companies. The successful candidate will need an excellent eye for detail, a forward-thinking approach and be able to work individually or as part of the wider team.
Job Overview:
This role will support the Stores Manager with the storage and safekeeping of goods in a store or warehouse. Receiving goods from suppliers, checking the goods for damage and store it appropriately. Tracking the movement of goods and are responsible for all paperwork relating to the receiving and dispatching of goods. Monitoring current stock levels to decide if more should be ordered with guidance from the computerized stock system, as well as organizing existing inventory, so it is easily and safely accessible.
The key responsibilities include:
· Manage all stock and equipment control.
· Receive deliveries
· Ensure all items conform to any specified requirement and all relevant certification received with each consignment
· Report any discrepancies/quality issues to supplier and raise reject notes as appropriate
· Check all materials/components correspond to purchase order
· Ensure the accuracy of all recorded stock through appropriate systems and processes.
· All goods to be receipted in and issued out to relevant job/area
· Goods to be stored in appropriate location
· Ensure goods despatched to sub-contractors are controlled and recorded, both to and from supplier
· Liaise with internal departments on a daily basis
· Monitor stock levels daily
· Advise purchasing department of stock requirements
· Carry out end of month stocktake
· Stocktake sheets forwarded to purchasing department
· Drive forklift as and when required
· Monitor stock levels and manage as appropriate
· Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
Where will you be working?
Arlington Fleet Services is based at Eastleigh Works in Hampshire on a 46-acre site which includes 14 acres of workshops. We were formed in 2004 by a group of experienced railway engineering professionals and our business is constantly expanding. The Company supplies tailored maintenance, refurbishment and project services for the entire life cycle of rolling stock including;
- Routine maintenance and servicing of a variety of locomotives, coaching and other stock.
- Bespoke projects to meet client’s requirements.
- Redesign and re-purposing of rolling stock to meet client’s requirements.
- Bogie servicing & overhaul.
- Heavy repair including collision repairs, re-wiring, interior refurbishment and overhaul.
- On site Paint shop offering a variety of total paint solutions.
- On site welding team to support all client requirements.
- On site wheel shop for overhaul and repair.
- Workshop facilities to other customers.
- Train stabling and Rolling stock storage.
- End of life dismantling and recycling.
What Experience & Qualifications Are Essential to the Role?
· Must be able to operate and hold a current forklift licence
· Confident capable individual who is able to assess situations and use initiative
· Self-motivated and able to adapt to changing priorities
· Able to demonstrate an aptitude for problem solving using a logical approach
· Confident and logical under pressure but must understand urgency and respond accordingly
· Confident using IT systems and spreadsheets
· Good understanding of Health and Safety at Work regulations.
· Reporting writing skills.
· Must be able to demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills with good level of mathematical skills
