Full job description

An exciting opportunity has presented itself for a pharmacist with both clinical cancer experience and a strong interest in clinical trials to join our senior cancer pharmacy team. This post is a permanent position working within the Clinical Research Facility (CRF) and the Cancer Clinical Trials Unit (CCTU) at UCLH. You will work closely with the Lead Clinical Pharmacist to manage a fast paced, growing service.

As a world-leading research facility, you will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver clinical trials, including early phase, and streamline the service.

As a registered pharmacist, you will provide a person-centred approach to care and manage specialist pharmacy services to patients within the CRF & CCTU. You will collaborate with the Lead Clinical Pharmacist to improve the pharmacy service for these patients and educate pharmacy and multidisciplinary staff on these innovative treatments.

The post holder will lead, develop and undertake clinical and operational audit and research in the CRF & CCTU.

The UCLH Cancer Pharmacy Team is a large team across oncology, haematology and transplantation and works well together. Our ideal candidate will:

help us develop and deliver our vision for a person-centred clinical pharmacy service
drive directorate and departmental clinical governance issues, clinical audit, practice research, service improvement projects and more
be keen to further their career within cancer services.

The main day to day responsibilities would include:

To manage the day-to-day delivery of clinical pharmacy services to the CRF & for CCTU trials and streamline the clinical pharmacy pathway
To lead and support the opening and management of cancer clinical trials
To lead and manage amendments for cancer clinical trials
To provide highly specialised and complex evidence-based clinical advice and information to the multidisciplinary team on the care and treatment of cancer clinical patients
To deliver and promote high quality, cost effective, patient focused pharmaceutical care
To manage cancer pharmacists delivering clinical pharmacy services to the CRF
To support the training and development of cancer pharmacists in the field of cancer trials

The cancer pharmacy team consists of specialist cancer pharmacists and technicians that work for the Cancer Division and is fully integrated within the Division to provide clinical pharmacy services to patients. The team also collaborates closely with the UCLH Pharmacy Department to ensure pharmacy standards are maintained.
