Full job description

Please note this is not a standard production role. We are looking for a technically skilled operator with experience in industrial control systems (eg SCADA), to manage and monitor bespoke automated production processes in our spray crystalliser.

The role

Assist in the manufacture of food products using specialist spray crystallisation technology, ensuring established standards of safety, output, quality, and hygiene
Operate and monitor computer-controlled specialist production equipment and systems
Work safely at all times in accordance with company Health & Safety policies, procedures, practices and legislation to correctly prepare packaging for food products with respect to container, label and coding
Carry out cleaning schedules in the production and packaging area ensuring a very high standard of hygiene / sanitation is achieved
Store, feed, mix, blend and package food products as appropriate, ensuring high standards of good manufacturing practice
Pack/metal detect and inspect products
Palletise, wrap and label finished goods as required
Complete to the established standard all relevant process / food safety documentation
Flexible in relieving other departments as required (eg for absence cover/fluctuations in demand)
Ensure food safety, legality and quality requirements are met at all times

Experience required:

Experience in a similar role, preferably within food production or a similar sector (eg pharmaceutical, chemical)
Experience with programming, monitoring and controlling complex production equipment/systems (eg SCADA, PLC)
Previous exposure to manual handling practices is essential

Skills required include:

Confident working with IT-based production equipment/systems (monitoring, control, data interpretation, alarm handling, problem solving)
Confident working with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Work as a team player
Is professional, positive and enthusiastic
Has integrity, initiative and focus
Able to self-manage and work independently when necessary
Able to think, communicate and present information effectively
Performs well under pressure
FLT licence is an advantage but not essential (Counterbalance/Bendi)

Additional information:

Rare and unique opportunity working with specialist spray crystallisation equipment/systems
Location - Braintree, CM7 2YN
Working hours - 43 per week (7:15am-5:15pm Mon-Thurs, 7:15am-3:15pm Fri, with 1 hour unpaid break each day).
Salary - The first 39 hours per week are paid at £15 per hour and the remaining 4 hours per week are paid at £22.50 per hour
25 days holiday (plus bank hols), increasing with service, up to max of 28 days
This role is not desk based and involves significant physical exertion, including repetitive lifting of 25kg boxes and working at heights
