Job Title: Live-in Support Worker

Service: Supported Accommodation for Young People 16+
Location: Brixton
Salary: Dependent on experience and qualifications
Hours: Full-time / Part-time / Flexible / including live-in arrangements where required

About Aim Living

Aim Living is a growing supported accommodation provider currently undergoing registration with OFSTED under the Supported Accommodation (England) Regulations 2023 for young people aged 16+. While this registration is pending, we are delivering essential services to young adults aged 18+ and planning to open homes specifically designed to meet the needs of those with special educational or support needs.

Our planned services will focus on supporting care leavers and unaccompanied asylum-seeking children (UASC), helping them prepare for adulthood through safe, structured, and nurturing environments. However, our service model is flexible and may evolve to support other vulnerable young people, including those with special needs or complex backgrounds.

All applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including references from previous employers and an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. About the Role

As a Support Worker, you will play a key role in safeguarding and supporting young people aged 16 to 21, helping them transition into safe, confident, and independent adulthood. You’ll provide practical, emotional, and safeguarding support tailored to each individual’s needs.

As a Live-in Support Worker, you will live in the supported accommodation for an agreed period of time and provide day-to-day support based on their individual support plan. You will play an important role in helping the client remain safe, comfortable, independent, and well cared for in their own home.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver consistent, structured, and trauma-informed support to young people.
Help young people develop life skills including cooking, cleaning, budgeting, attending appointments, and job/college readiness.
Promote independence while providing emotional guidance and stability.
Build positive, trusting relationships while maintaining professional boundaries.
Identify and act on safeguarding concerns immediately, following Aim Living’s Safeguarding Policy.
Support young people to engage with education, employment, training, and community resources.
Assist with health-related tasks (e.g. registering with a GP, mental health referrals).
Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential records, including risk assessments and support plans.
Participate in house checks, ensuring properties are clean, safe, and hazard-free.
Liaise with social workers, personal advisors, schools, and other external professionals.

Essential Requirements

Experience working with vulnerable young people, care leavers, UASC or similar groups.
Understanding of safeguarding and child protection with the confidence to act swiftly when concerns arise.
Ability to follow clear policies and procedures, including health and safety, confidentiality, and GDPR.
Strong interpersonal skills, including empathy, reliability, and cultural sensitivity.
Ability to manage conflict, de-escalate incidents, and remain calm in crisis situations.
Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to undergo one before starting).
Two suitable references, including one from your most recent employer (as per safer recruitment).

Desirable Skills / Qualifications

Level 3 qualification in Health & Social Care, Children & Young People, or similar.
First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
Knowledge of asylum and immigration issues affecting UASC.
Experience supporting young people with learning difficulties or additional needs.
Flexibility to support across multiple properties and shifts if needed.
