Head Chef – NEW OPENING -Late August/Early September

You could work in a city working for a tasteless corporate juggernaut and never see daylight.

Or…

You could spend your days beside the River Arun, cooking simple food and helping us build what we think could become one of Sussex’s most enjoyable places to eat.

Coffee and pastries flow into long lunches, handmade pasta, wood-fired meat, fish and pizza, with the afternoon filled with Venetian inspired aperitivo hour with cicchetti.

A compact wine list from small scale producers best enjoyed on the terrace by the river.

We’re looking for a Head Chef to help shape the business from the beginning.

Someone who understands that the best restaurants are often the simplest.

The Food

Seasonal impeccably sourced produce.

A menu that changes with the seasons but remains recognisable.

Food people want to come back and eat every week.

The Person

You might already be a Head Chef.

You might be a Senior Sous Chef ready for the next step.

Either way you’ll need:

Strong cooking skills
Good organisational ability
A sense of humour
Commercial awareness
Pride in your work
The ability to lead a team

Most importantly, you’ll understand that hospitality is about making people happy.

What You’ll Be Doing

Designing seasonal menus
Recruiting and developing the kitchen team
Managing food costs and labour
Working closely with local suppliers
Building a kitchen culture people actually want to be part of
Helping create a restaurant people talk about for the right reasons
