Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Handyman to join our team As a Handyman, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of the care home, creating a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained environment for our residents and staff.

You will be responsible for performing a wide range of maintenance tasks, from minor repairs to regular upkeep of the premises.

Responsibilities:

We are seeking a candidate with strong knowledge and experience in both plumbing and electrical work.

Conduct routine inspections and identify maintenance issues around the care home (e.g., plumbing, electrical, heating, and general building maintenance).
Perform minor repairs such as fixing doors, windows, furniture, and other general wear and tear.
Ensure all safety and emergency equipment is in proper working order.
Assist with painting, decorating, and other maintenance tasks.
Install, repair, and maintain household equipment, plumbing systems, lighting, and more.
Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff and residents.
Ensure all work is completed to a high standard, ensuring safety and comfort for all.
Maintain an organized inventory of tools and supplies.
Assist with setting up furniture or equipment for special events or activities.
Work in compliance with health and safety regulations and ensure a clean and safe environment.

Requirements:

Previous experience in a handyman or maintenance role (experience in a care home or similar environment is a plus).
Knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, and general repairs.
Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team.
Ability to handle maintenance issues promptly and efficiently.
Knowledge of safety procedures and commitment to maintaining a safe environment.
Positive attitude, reliability, and excellent problem-solving skills.
Ability to lift and carry heavy objects, as well as perform physical tasks.
Flexibility to work various shifts as needed.

Qualifications

Proven mechanical knowledge with experience in maintenance or repair roles.
Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively in English.
Experience in supervising teams or individuals is preferred.
Proficiency in electrical systems, including installation and repair of wiring.
Familiarity with welding techniques and equipment is advantageous.
Ability to read and interpret schematics for various systems.
Demonstrated leadership qualities, with the ability to motivate and guide others.
A proactive approach to problem-solving with strong attention to detail.
