Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Purchasing Assistant to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the purchasing department by managing procurement processes, maintaining supplier relationships, and ensuring the timely acquisition of goods and services. This position requires strong negotiation skills and familiarity with various procurement systems such as SAP, Oracle EBS, and AS400.

Responsibilities

Assist in the procurement of materials and supplies necessary for operations.
Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and other important data within purchasing systems.
Collaborate with suppliers to negotiate terms and ensure timely delivery of goods.
Monitor inventory levels and assist in forecasting supply needs based on production schedules.
Support the purchasing team in evaluating supplier performance and conducting regular reviews.
Utilise systems such as SAP ERP and Oracle EBS to process purchase orders efficiently.
Coordinate logistics related to the delivery of goods, ensuring compliance with company policies.
Provide administrative support by preparing reports and presentations related to purchasing activities.

Requirements

Proven experience in a purchasing or supply chain role is preferred.
Familiarity with procurement software such as SAP, Oracle EBS, or AS400 is advantageous.
Strong negotiation skills with an ability to build relationships with suppliers.
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail to manage multiple tasks effectively.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data analysis and reporting.
A background in logistics or supply chain management would be beneficial but not essential.
