Full job description

Job Summary - (working hours between 7:30am-6:00pm , Monday-Friday)
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Early Years Practitioner to support the leadership of our nursery team. You will play a key role in ensuring high standards of care, learning, and development for children aged 0-5years, while supporting staff and contributing to continuous improvement. The ideal applicant will possess strong management and leadership skills, alongside a passion for early childhood education.

Responsibilities

Lead by example in delivering high-quality early learning and childcare
Support the Nursery Manager in the day-to-day running of the setting
Plan and implement engaging learning experiences in line with Curriculum for Excellence / Realising the Ambition
Act as a key worker, building strong, positive relationships with children and families
Ensure compliance with Care Inspectorate standards and guidance
Support, mentor, and supervise staff, students and volunteers
Maintain accurate observations, assessments, and children’s records
Promote a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment

Requirements

SCQF Level 8 (or above) in Social Services (Children and Young People) or equivalent
Registration (or eligibility to register) with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC)
Experience in a senior or supervisory role within an early years setting
Strong knowledge of Curriculum for Excellence and Realising the Ambition
Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
Excellent communication, teamwork, and leadership skills
A genuine passion for early years care and education
