AV Technician – Workshop, Events & Technical Support
Location: Banbury, Oxfordshire
Salary: £28,000 per annum (open to negotiation depending on experience and level of the role).
Working Pattern: Full-time, UK-based role with occasional UK travel. Weekend availability required, including alternate Saturdays.

Beyond Formula 1, Live Wire provides technical production, equipment and specialist personnel to a wide range of live events including festivals, concerts, conferences, theatre and corporate productions. Our clients include some of the UK's most respected venues, including the Southbank Centre, Barbican and Sadler's Wells.
The Role
We are looking for an organised, proactive and technically minded AV Technician to join our Banbury-based team.
This role is central to the successful delivery of Live Wire's Formula 1 and live event projects. While the position is primarily UK-based, you will play a critical role in preparing equipment, maintaining technical standards, supporting warehouse operations and ensuring our travelling event teams have everything required to deliver world-class events around the globe.
The successful candidate will take pride in maintaining equipment to the highest standard, supporting stock management processes, assisting with technical training and contributing to the continual improvement of our systems and procedures.

Key ResponsibilitiesEquipment Preparation & Event Support
- Prepare equipment for Formula 1 and live event deployments.
- Build, test and configure AV systems prior to dispatch.
- Ensure all equipment is fully functional, labelled and documented before leaving the warehouse.
- Support project teams with technical preparation, equipment allocation and logistics planning.
- Assist with event builds and deliveries within the UK when required.
Equipment Maintenance & Testing
- Maintain equipment to the highest standard, ensuring reliability and readiness for deployment.
- Carry out regular preventative maintenance schedules.
- Perform PAT testing and maintain accurate testing records.
- Diagnose faults and carry out basic repairs where appropriate.
- Report damaged or missing equipment and assist with repair management.
- Ensure all equipment remains clean, organised and professionally presented.
Warehouse & Stock Management
- Conduct regular stock counts and inventory audits.
- Assist in maintaining accurate stock records and asset tracking systems.
- Manage equipment returns following events and Formula 1 race weekends.
- Ensure equipment is checked, tested and returned to stock promptly.
- Maintain a safe, efficient and organised warehouse environment.
- Support the packing and shipping of equipment for domestic and international events.
Formula 1 Event Support
- Provide remote support to travelling Formula 1 technicians when required.
- Assist with race preparation, equipment staging and logistics planning.
- Review returned equipment from race weekends and ensure it is serviced and ready for the next deployment.
- Contribute to continual improvements in equipment preparation, documentation and operational processes.
Training & Development
- Support the delivery of training programmes within the Live Wire Academy.
- Assist in onboarding and developing junior technicians and apprentices.
- Help maintain training equipment and learning environments.
- Share technical knowledge and best practices with colleagues across the business.
- Support the creation of technical documentation, guides and standard operating procedures.
General Responsibilities
- Maintain excellent communication with Operations, Production and Project teams.
- Support sustainability initiatives through responsible equipment management and waste reduction.
- Promote a positive, professional and safety-focused culture.
- Demonstrate flexibility to support the wider business during busy periods.
- Represent Live Wire professionally when working with clients, suppliers and partners.
Skills & ExperienceEssential
- Experience within the AV, events, technical production or broadcast industry.
- Good understanding of audio, video and lighting equipment.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
- Confident using IT systems and maintaining accurate records.
- Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
- PAT Testing qualification.
- Experience working within a warehouse or technical preparation environment.
- Knowledge of Formula 1, motorsport or live events.
- Experience with inventory management systems.
- Forklift, IPAF or PASMA certification.
- Experience supporting training or mentoring junior team members.
