Transport Manager – Maternity Cover

PRM Furniture | Lancing, West Sussex | Fixed Term: July/August 2026 – September 2027

PRM is looking for an experienced, driven Transport Manager to join us on a maternity cover basis. This is a genuine opportunity for someone who wants to make their mark. We’re not just looking for someone to hold the fort, we want a leader who’ll bring fresh thinking, drive continuous improvement, and really take ownership of the operation.

About the role

You’ll take full ownership of our transport operations, leading a team of 15 and overseeing our HGV and grey fleet from top to bottom. Compliance is at the core of the role; driver hours, vehicle maintenance, tachographs, FORS Operator’s Licence, RAMS, but this is much more than a compliance position. We’re looking for someone who’ll assess how we currently operate, identify where improvements can be made, and have the confidence and capability to implement them.

Reporting to our Head of Service Delivery, you’ll be responsible for setting and maintaining high standards across the team, driving efficiency, reducing costs, and ensuring our customers consistently receive the level of service they expect. Safety is non-negotiable, and you’ll lead a culture that reflects that.

What we’re looking for

You’ll hold a Transport Manager CPC and FORS Practitioner qualification, both are essential. More broadly, we’re looking for someone with a strong track record in transport or fleet management, who leads from the front and isn’t afraid to challenge the status quo where needed.

You’ll be highly organised, commercially aware, and confident communicating across all levels of the business and with external stakeholders. A Category C+E licence is desirable but not essential.

This role suits someone who takes genuine pride in operational excellence, someone who sees a 13-month contract as an opportunity, not a stopgap.

Pay: £45,000.00-£52,000.00 per year
