About the Company
BPA is a leading precision engineering specialist based in Daventry, delivering high-precision components and assemblies for the Motorsport, Automotive, Aerospace, and Defence sectors.
With over 10 years of industry experience, we combine advanced manufacturing technology, including state-of-the-art 5-axis CNC machining centres and CAD/CAM systems, with a highly skilled team to deliver exceptional quality and service. Operating from our modern 33,000 sq ft facility, we are committed to innovation, continuous improvement, and engineering excellence, supporting customers from prototype development through to full production and assembly.
What You Will Be Doing
We are seeking an experienced and motivated CNC Machinist to join our precision engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled machinist to work with advanced 5-axis machining technology, producing high-precision components while contributing as part of a collaborative and high-performing manufacturing team.
Working with advanced Matsuura 5-axis machining centres equipped with Fanuc controls, you will be responsible for producing high-quality precision components, supporting production requirements, and helping to ensure quality, efficiency, and on-time delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Set, operate, and optimise 5-axis CNC machining centres, including Matsuura (Fanuc) and DMG (Heidenhain) machines, ensuring maximum machine performance and productivity.
- Manufacture high-precision components in line with engineering drawings, quality standards, and customer requirements.
- Support production schedules by working efficiently and effectively to meet delivery deadlines.
- Prove out prototype and new production components, providing feedback to the CAM programming team on tooling selection, cutting strategies, speeds, and feeds to optimise manufacturing processes.
- Ensure production control plans, quality procedures, and engineering standards are adhered to throughout the manufacturing process.
- Read, interpret, and work from detailed engineering drawings, technical specifications, and manufacturing documentation.
- Perform in-process inspections using a range of manual measuring equipment and gauges, ensuring components meet exacting quality standards and tight tolerances.
- Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and production issues, working with colleagues to minimise downtime and maximise efficiency.
- Collaborate closely with Quality, Planning, Engineering, and Management teams to resolve technical challenges and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to operational excellence projects.
- Maintain a safe, organised, and professional working environment in line with company health, safety, and quality standards, including adherence to ISO 9001 processes.
What We Are Looking For:
- Proven experience as a CNC Machinist within a precision engineering environment, with strong expertise in 5-axis machining of prototype and low-volume, high-complexity components.
- Extensive experience operating, setting, and programming CNC machining centres, ideally Matsuura (Fanuc) and/or DMG (Heidenhain) machines.
- Advanced knowledge of Fanuc controls, including probing cycles, kinematics, G-code programming, tooling optimisation, and machine setup techniques.
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T, manufacturing processes, and precision inspection methods.
- Experience using a wide range of measuring equipment to verify components against tight tolerances and exacting quality standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify process improvements and resolve technical manufacturing challenges.
- Self-motivated, reliable, and proactive, with the ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team.
- Exceptional attention to detail, a commitment to quality, and a continuous improvement mindset.
- Strong commitment to health, safety, and maintaining high standards of housekeeping and workplace organisation.
If you are a skilled CNC Machinist looking to join a growing precision engineering business and play an important role in delivering world-class components for the Motorsport, Aerospace and Automotive sectors, we would like to hear from you.
