Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Motor Vehicle Technician and MOT Tester to join our professional team. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing a variety of vehicles, ensuring they meet safety and environmental standards. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong mechanical background to develop their expertise within a reputable garage environment. The position involves conducting MOT tests in accordance with legal requirements and providing high-quality vehicle servicing.

Duties

Conduct comprehensive vehicle inspections to identify mechanical issues and safety concerns
Perform repairs, maintenance, and diagnostics using hand tools and power tools
Carry out MOT testing in compliance with current legislation and industry standards
Assist in the diagnosis of vehicle faults and recommend appropriate solutions
Carry out heavy lifting when required, including moving parts and equipment safely
Maintain accurate records of all work carried out and parts used
Ensure the workshop remains clean, organised, and adheres to health and safety regulations
Provide excellent customer service by explaining repairs and maintenance procedures clearly

Requirements

Proven experience as a Motor Vehicle Technician or similar role with relevant qualifications
Mechanical knowledge of various vehicle systems and components
Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools effectively and safely
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely as part of daily duties
Valid MOT tester certification or willingness to undertake training if necessary
Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Good communication skills to liaise with customers and colleagues effectively
