Location: Yeovil Delivery Office, BA20 1AA

Job type: Fixed Term contract 9 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 30:00 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 10:00/16:45*

Looking for a delivery driver job where you can stay active, connected to your community, and enjoy great benefits? Join Royal Mail as a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) and become the face of our trusted service, delivering letters and parcels in Yeovil.

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work two in four Sundays at Yeovil Delivery Office working between 12:00 - 18:00

What you’ll do

Sort letters and parcels at the delivery office
Deliver post by van and on foot in your local area
Build relationships with customers
Work outdoors in all weathers

You’ll deliver more than just mail: exam results, birthday cards, business orders, and moments that matter.** It's not always easy – but it’s always rewarding.

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
Driving a Royal Mail van daily
Working in all weather conditions
Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
Reliable and self-motivated
Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
Comfortable working outdoors and independently
