Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Motor Vehicle Technician to join our automotive service team at our Ashford Skoda branch. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting vehicle safety inspections in accordance with legal standards and company policies. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a passion for vehicle maintenance and a keen eye for detail to contribute to our reputation for quality service. The position is paid and suitable for those eager to develop their expertise within the automotive industry.

Duties

Conduct comprehensive servicing on a variety of vehicle makes and models, ensuring compliance with current regulations.
Inspect vehicle components such as brakes, tyres, lights, suspension, and exhaust systems.
Identify any defects or issues and accurately record findings.
Advise customers on necessary repairs or maintenance to meet safety standards.
Complete all required documentation accurately and efficiently.
Maintain the MOT bay and testing equipment in excellent condition, ensuring safety and compliance at all times.
Keep up-to-date with legislative changes related to vehicle testing procedures.

Skills

Strong mechanical knowledge with a thorough understanding of vehicle systems.
Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
Ability to perform heavy lifting when handling vehicle parts or equipment.
Excellent attention to detail to ensure thorough inspections and accurate reporting.
Good organisational skills to manage multiple tests efficiently while maintaining high standards of safety and quality.
Effective communication skills to explain findings clearly to customers and team members. This role requires a dedicated individual committed to maintaining high standards of vehicle safety and customer service, with the ability to work efficiently in a busy environment. Prior experience as an MOT Tester or relevant automotive qualifications are highly desirable.
