Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant/Cook to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting food preparation and cooking activities in a busy kitchen environment. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop culinary skills and gain valuable experience in food service operations. The position is paid and suitable for individuals passionate about food, safety, and delivering quality meals.

Duties

Assist with food preparation, including chopping, peeling, and measuring ingredients
Cook and assemble meals according to specified recipes and standards
Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene throughout all kitchen activities
Ensure all kitchen equipment is clean, well-maintained, and stored appropriately
Support the serving team during meal service to ensure timely delivery of dishes
Organise ingredients and supplies to optimise workflow efficiency
Follow health and safety regulations at all times to create a safe working environment
Assist with stock rotation and inventory management as required

Qualifications

Previous experience in a kitchen or catering environment is desirable but not essential; training will be provided for the right candidate
Knowledge of food preparation techniques and cooking methods
Understanding of food safety standards and hygiene practices
Experience working in a restaurant or similar setting is advantageous
Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
A positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills in culinary arts
