Job Description:

At Woodview Medical Centre, we are looking for an enthusiastic and reliable Care Navigator to join our friendly, patient-focused team.

As one of the GP surgeries with the highest patient satisfaction ratings and Google review scores in Northamptonshire, we pride ourselves on delivering outstanding care and excellent service to our patients. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a forward-thinking practice that genuinely values both its patients and staff.

No previous GP or NHS experience? That’s absolutely fine — full training will be provided for the right candidate with the right attitude.

Main Duties of the Role

You will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the practice, supporting patients both face-to-face and over the telephone. Duties will include:

Care navigating and signposting patients to the most appropriate clinician or service
Answering and directing telephone calls
Booking, amending, and cancelling appointments
Responding to patient enquiries professionally and sensitively
Taking payments for private services and issuing receipts
Carrying out a range of administrative and reception duties
Managing emails, scanning documents, and updating patient records
Supporting the smooth and efficient running of reception and waiting areas

This is a busy and rewarding position, so you will need to be organised, professional, and able to prioritise your workload effectively.

Operating from modern, purpose-built premises, we provide high-quality General Medical Services to a diverse and growing patient population of approximately 11,000 patients.

As part of the MWeb Primary Care Network, we continue to expand and develop the services we offer, making this an exciting time to join a progressive and ambitious practice committed to delivering exceptional patient care.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Clear and professional telephone manner
Strong IT and administrative skills
Ability to remain calm under pressure
A positive, flexible, and team-focused attitude
Good organisational and time management skills
Ability to work independently and follow procedures accurately
Empathetic and sensitive approach when supporting patients

Essential Experience

Experience working with the general public
Previous administrative or receptionist experience

Desirable

Experience working within a healthcare setting
Knowledge of SystmOne
GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care or AMSPAR qualification

Working Hours

Applicants must be flexible to work shifts between 8:00am and 6:30pm on a rota basis and participate in occasional Saturday morning shifts where required to support the smooth running of the practice.

Disclosure & Barring Service Check

This role is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check in accordance with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1975.

Pay: From £12.71 per hour
