Full job description

Job Overview

Our well-established and thriving high street law firm is seeking a conscientious and organised Accounts Assistant. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting our Cashier and wider team by undertaking various financial tasks in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. Accuracy in data entry and good maths skills are essential, as are communication and client-service skills. Previous knowledge of Legal Accounts is not required as ongoing training and support will be provided.

Duties

Ensure adherence to the Solicitors Accounts Rules.
Perform accurate data entry for financial transactions and maintain accurate and up-to-date records utilising specialised Legal Accounts software
Assist with accounts payable processes, including invoice verification and payment processing.
Collaborate with legal departments to produce accurate invoices and statements, and resolve discrepancies.
Process incoming and outgoing client payments accurately and in a timely manner to support legal transactions.
Undertake financial reconciliations, and assist in month-end closing activities and the production of reports.
Run payroll, maintain PAYE, sickness and leaves records.
Open, archive, and destroy client files.
Maintain an organised filing system for financial documents and correspondence.
Provide administrative and reception support as required.

Requirements

Previous experience in an accounts assistant role or similar is not needed.
IT literacy is essential, but knowledge of specific programs is not required.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy, as well as excellent organisational skills are essential.
Ability to work effectively independently, closely with a small team, and with other departments.
Mathematical competency essential.
Good communication skills, both written and verbal, are necessary for liaising with colleagues, clients, and suppliers.
Ability to remain calm under pressure.
Ability to multi-task.
