Job Title: Male Support Worker (for personal care) – Children & Young Adults (Disabilities & Behaviours that Challenge)
Location: Oswaldtwistle / Knuzden
Salary: £13.25 per hour (Non-qualified) | £14.00 per hour (Level 3 or above qualified. £40 per month for staff able to drive all company vehicles (pro rata for part-time staff)
Job Type: Full-time / Part-time / Permanent / Shift Work (Includes Sleep-ins)

About the Role

We are looking for dedicated, compassionate, and resilient Support Workers to join our team, supporting children and young adults with disabilities, autism and challenging behaviours.

We operate across two services:

Oswaldtwistle – a respite centre for children and young adults with disabilities and challenging behaviours
Knuzden – an adult care home supporting young people with disabilities and challenging behaviours

You will be required to work flexibly across both sites, helping to create a safe, structured, and nurturing environment where individuals can thrive.

Working Pattern

Flexible shifts between 7:00am and 9:00pm
Sleep-in duties required
Wake and watch shifts are covered by a dedicated team, but you may occasionally be required to cover in their absence (this is rare)
Contracts available from 16 hours (part-time) up to 40 hours (full-time) per week
Alternate weekend working required
Any shifts picked up on your weekend off are paid at time and a half - up to £21.00 ph

Key Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality, person-centred care in line with individual care plans
Support with daily living tasks including personal care, meal preparation, and routines
Build positive and trusting relationships with children and young people
Manage and respond to challenging behaviours using appropriate strategies and de-escalation techniques
Encourage independence, life skills, and engagement in education and activities
Maintain accurate records, including daily notes and incident reports
Work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and external professionals
Safeguard and promote the welfare of all children and young people
Administer medication in line with company procedures
Follow all health & safety and safeguarding policies

Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities

Requirements

Must be 21 years or older (due to Ofsted regulations)
Previous experience in care/support work is desirable but not essential
Experience supporting individuals with disabilities and/or challenging behaviours is advantageous
Level 3 in Children & Young People, Childcare, or Health & Social Care (desirable)
If not already qualified, willingness to work towards a Level 3 qualification within the first 3 months (fully supported by the company)
A full UK driving licence is desirable but not essential
Willingness to drive company vehicles (you will not be required to use your own vehicle)
Willingness to complete an Enhanced DBS check

Pay & Benefits

£13.25 per hour (non-qualified)
£14.00 per hour (Level 3 or above qualified)
Sleep-in rate: £59.00 per night
