Job Description
Allum is looking for an experienced Electric Gate, Barrier, Access Control and Intercom Engineer to join our growing team.
We install, service and repair a wide range of commercial automated gate systems, traffic barriers, access control systems, intercoms and perimeter security equipment across commercial premises, schools, industrial sites, residential blocks, property management sites, facilities management sites and high-traffic environments.
This is not a trainee role. We are looking for someone who already has strong hands-on experience within the automated gate, traffic barrier, access control or intercom industry and can confidently attend site, diagnose faults, complete repairs, carry out installations, commission systems and represent the company professionally.
Although we are based in Worcestershire, our client base extends across the Midlands and, when required, UK-wide. The successful applicant must therefore be comfortable travelling to commercial client sites as part of their role.
The position also includes participation in a structured call-out rota, currently 1 week in 5, supporting our commercial service clients. Call-out payments and overtime are paid in addition to basic salary.
The right person will be joining a well-established specialist contractor with a strong commercial client base, regular work, structured systems and long-term opportunities.

- Installing and commissioning new equipment on commercial and managed sites
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance visits
- Diagnosing faults and recommending suitable repairs or upgrades
- Completing job sheets, risk assessments and site paperwork accurately
- Liaising professionally with clients, site managers, facilities teams and office staff
- Ensuring all work is completed safely, professionally and to industry standards
- Participating in the company call-out rota
- Working both independently and as part of a team
Experience Required
Applicants should ideally have experience with some or all of the following:
- Commercial automated gates and traffic barriers
- Access control systems
- GSM and hard-wired intercom systems
- Door entry systems
- Safety devices including photocells, safety edges, induction loops and force testing

Experience with manufacturers such as CAME, FAAC, NICE, BFT, Videx, Intratone, Paxton, Comelit, Telguard, AES, Beninca, Parking Facilities, Ultimation or similar would be an advantage.

- Strong fault-finding ability
- Good understanding of low-voltage control systems
- Professional attitude when working on commercial client sites
