We adopt an ‘anonymous recruitment’ approach to shortlisting. Recruiting managers will not have access to personal information, including your name and contact details, until a shortlisting decision has been made.
We are committed to recruiting, retaining, and developing a workforce that reflects the communities we serve. Sharing your equality monitoring data allows us to assess the impact our recruitment and employment policies and practices have and gives us the opportunity to improve them where possible. Equality monitoring information is not accessible by recruiting managers at any stage.

Come and join our team
Help keep our vehicles moving and our communities running!
Do you enjoy figuring out how things work and fixing them when they don’t? Are you someone who likes getting stuck in and solving problems?
We’re looking for a Casual Mechanic to join our workshop teams in Llanelli and Carmarthen supporting the Council’s fleet of vehicles and equipment. This is a flexible, as-and-when role, helping us cover busy periods, holidays and absences with shifts offered through our scheduling app.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll be working on a wide range of vehicles and plant, helping to keep everything safe, legal and ready for use. Some tasks include:
Servicing, repairing and diagnosing faults on Council vehicles and plant
Inspecting vehicles and preparing them for MOT
Responding to breakdowns and helping keep people safe out on the road
Using diagnostic tools to track down problems and find the right fix
Keeping the workshop safe, tidy and running smoothly
Completing job records and reports to a high standard
If you’re someone who is already qualified to NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in vehicle mechanics, enjoys getting to the root of a problem and fixing it properly, and you want to be part of a team that supports each other and takes pride in their work; we’d love to hear from you!
