Full job description

Purchasing Administrator

Due to business growth, we are looking for a motivated and proactive administration professional to join our busy team, working in a commercial marine business based in Gosport.

The Purchasing Administrator is responsible for supporting the procurement function by raising purchase orders, liaising with suppliers, maintaining purchasing records, and ensuring materials, equipment, and services are ordered and delivered efficiently. The role plays a key part in ensuring operational requirements are met while maintaining accurate documentation and cost control.

Key Responsibilities:

Raise and process purchase orders in accordance with company procedures.
Obtain quotations from suppliers and compare costs, lead times, and quality.
Communicate with suppliers regarding orders, deliveries, pricing, and availability.
Monitor outstanding purchase orders and follow up on delayed deliveries.
Maintain accurate purchasing records, supplier databases, and documentation.
Match purchase orders, delivery notes, and invoices for verification.
Resolve supplier queries and discrepancies promptly.
Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and financial controls.
Build and maintain positive working relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Undertake other administrative duties as required to support the business.

Knowledge and Experience:

Previous experience in an administrative role.
Strong organisational and time management skills.
Good attention to detail and accuracy.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Word.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to prioritise workload and work to deadlines.
Punctual, reliable and able to work both independently and as part of a team.

This is a full-time permanent position with 23 days annual leave increasing by 1 day for every 2 years of service up to 25 days. Plus bank holidays

Pay rate £28,000 per annum
