Full job description

About the role:

Your role is to support on a two-to-one basis, helping one gentleman to build confidence, develop life skills, and achieve the greatest level of independence possible. You will provide guidance, reassurance, and positive behaviour support to help him manage periods of emotional dysregulation and make positive choices. You will also contribute to the safe and effective running of the service by recording incidents, accidents, and safeguarding concerns, supporting skill development, sharing relevant information with colleagues, undertaking health and safety responsibilities, and encouraging the people we support to actively participate in household tasks and daily living activities to promote independence and responsibility.

The person is a sociable young man who enjoys music, particularly meeting celebrities, creating and performing rap music, and sharing his content on social media. He has a strong interest in technology and regularly uses his phone, tablet, social media platforms, messaging apps, and video calls to stay connected with friends and family. He also enjoys fishing, attending events and shows, and watching football matches.

The person can present with challenges at times, but by building a trusting relationship, listening to him, and taking an interest in what matters to him, you will get to know a funny, engaging, and personable young man. Supporting him to achieve his goals and grow in confidence and independence is one of the most rewarding aspects of the role.

Hours:

Full time- 39 hour per week.

This service is located in Ashford, Kent.

About you:

The successful applicant must be able to build a positive, trusting relationship with the and confidently support their complex needs, including emotional dysregulation and behaviours of distress. The role requires a calm, consistent, and person-centred approach, flexibility to work on a two-to-one basis within a 24-hour supported accommodation service, and the ability to promote the persons independence
