Full job description

We're looking for a Service Assistant to join us at Seaton Delaval Hall, to work as part of a busy team throughout our visitor operations. Day to day, you'll deliver a great all-round customer service experience. You'll be on hand answering queries and listen to what our visitors need so you can share the right information. Your role is to make sure our visitors have the best day they can.

Salary: £12.75 per hour

Contract Duration: Fixed term until 28th February 2027

Contract Type: The hours advertised for this role is reflective of 12 months, however the actual hours you’ll be required to work for this role are 888 hours across the term of the contract. The amount of hours you work each month may vary, however your salary will be paid in equal instalments.

Working Pattern: The working pattern for this role will be flexible and based on operational needs. Typically, you will work 3 shifts per week between Wednesday and Sunday during term time, and across any days of the week during school holidays. Weekend working is required, and standard shifts usually run from 10:30am to 5:00pm.

For this role, you'll need to complete our online assessment instead of using a C.V. or online application form. This will help us understand more about your strengths and give you more information on the role.

This Northumbrian country house and grounds is one of the National Trusts more recent acquisitions. A place of theatre, imagination and fun that brings together a spirit of ambitious programming and events - alongside the drama and spirit of place - keeps visitors coming back again and again. Seaton Delaval Hall continues to go from strength to strength, having welcomed over 170,000 visitors in the last year for the first time.

What you'll be doing:As a Service Assistant, you'll work across multiple visitor areas, helping different departments to deliver high-quality customer service. You'll play an important role in supporting various property teams in greeting and helping our visitors. You can expect to meet lots of different people and help in various visitor areas.

As the public face of our property, you'll provide a warm, friendly welcome, give information about the property, answer questions and make sure everyone has an enjoyable and memorable visit around several areas of site. From assisting with welcome and admissions, car park support, welcoming everyone into our historic buildings, discussing the history of the property, and sharing our stories and spirit of place.

Most importantly you'll be talking to people, answering any questions they have to make sure they can find everything they need to enjoy their visit. Great visitor experiences are in our nature, and we believe everyone should feel welcomed, appreciated and more engaged because of the excellent service you provide. This role would suit anyone with an enthusiasm for delivering great customer service.
