Full job description

Part-Time Home Education Hub Lead

Location: Twycross Area, Leicestershire

Hours: 18–20 hours per week

Monday to Thursday: 10:00am–2:00pm
Optional Friday Community Workshop: 10:00am–12:00pm

Applicants may choose to work either:

18 hours per week (Monday–Thursday), or
20 hours per week (Monday–Friday)

Additional hours may be available for planning, programme development, administration, holiday activities, special events, and future expansion of the hub.

Start Date: September 2026

Salary: Competitive and dependent on experience and qualifications.

About Us

We are launching an exciting new Home Education Hub in the Twycross area, created specifically for home-educating families. Our aim is to provide engaging, hands-on learning experiences that inspire curiosity, independence, practical life skills, and a strong connection to nature and the wider community.

The hub will deliver a varied programme of workshops and activities focused on:

Forest School and outdoor learning
Homesteading and sustainable living
Nutrition and cooking
Financial literacy and enterprise skills
Animal care and conservation
A Zoo Ranger Programme delivered in partnership with a local zoo
Community-building activities and family workshops

We are seeking an enthusiastic, organised and passionate individual to lead the day-to-day operation of the hub and help shape this exciting new learning community from the ground up.

The Role

The Part-Time Home Education Hub Lead will oversee the planning, coordination and delivery of our educational programme, manage a small team of workshop facilitators, and help create a welcoming and inspiring environment for children and families.

This role combines leadership, organisation and hands-on delivery. The successful candidate will be confident leading some workshops themselves while coordinating specialist instructors and team members to deliver others.

The role would particularly suit an experienced educator, childcare practitioner, Forest School leader, home education professional, or someone with relevant experience who shares our values and passion for alternative education.

Key Responsibilities

Programme Leadership

Plan, coordinate and oversee a varied programme of educational workshops and activities.
Lead engaging sessions for children of varying ages and abilities.
Support the development of practical, child-led and experiential learning opportunities.
Ensure activities meet the needs and interests of home-educating families.
Work collaboratively with external providers and community partners.

Team Leadership

Supervise and support one to two workshop facilitators.
Coordinate staff schedules and workshop delivery.
Provide guidance, mentoring and quality assurance across the programme.
Foster a positive, collaborative and professional team culture.

Operations and Administration

Oversee the day-to-day running of the hub.
Maintain registers, risk assessments and relevant records.
Ensure safeguarding, health and safety, and organisational policies are followed.
Communicate effectively with families, staff, volunteers and partner organisations.

Outdoor Learning and Animal Engagement

Support and promote outdoor learning opportunities.
Assist in the development and delivery of Forest School and nature-based activities.
Encourage children’s connection with wildlife, conservation and the natural world.
Support the delivery of our Zoo Ranger Programme.
Share and promote a passion for animals and animal welfare.

Essential Requirements

We are looking for someone who:

Has experience working with children and young people.
Has experience planning and leading educational, recreational or enrichment activities.
Is confident supporting and coordinating a small team.
Has excellent organisational and communication skills.
Is passionate about child-centred learning and alternative education approaches.
Enjoys working outdoors and supporting practical, hands-on learning experiences.
Has a genuine interest in animals, wildlife and conservation.
Is proactive, adaptable and able to work independently.
Holds an Enhanced DBS certificate or is willing to obtain one.
Has a commitment to safeguarding and child welfare.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience (Not Essential)

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Level 3 or above Childcare Qualification
Forest School Leader Qualification
Outdoor Learning Qualification
Youth Work Qualification
Animal Care or Conservation Qualification
Paediatric or Outdoor First Aid Qualification
