About the Role
The Head of Commercial will lead the company's sales, marketing, and advertising activities, with overall responsibility for driving sustainable business growth.
Working closely with the CEO and senior stakeholders, you will develop and execute commercial strategies that increase revenue, strengthen our brand, improve customer acquisition and retention, and identify new market opportunities.
As a growing business, this is a hands-on leadership role. While you will be responsible for setting direction and strategy, you will also be expected to actively contribute to the delivery and execution of commercial initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Growth & Strategy
- Develop and implement the company's commercial growth strategy.
- Identify and pursue new revenue opportunities across retail, wholesale, distributor, marketplace, and direct-to-consumer channels.
- Drive sustainable revenue growth and profitability.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer insights to inform commercial decisions.
- Support the development and launch of new products and market expansion initiatives.
- Prepare commercial forecasts, budgets, and performance reports.
Sales Leadership
- Lead and grow sales across all channels.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with retailers, distributors, strategic partners, and key customers.
- Identify new business opportunities and partnerships.
- Negotiate commercial agreements and pricing arrangements.
- Establish sales targets and performance metrics.
- Monitor sales performance and implement strategies to achieve growth objectives.
Marketing & Brand Development
- Develop and execute marketing strategies that strengthen brand awareness and customer engagement.
- Lead digital marketing initiatives, including email marketing, content marketing, SEO, social media, influencer partnerships, and customer acquisition campaigns.
- Ensure consistent brand messaging across all customer touchpoints.
- Evaluate campaign performance and optimise marketing activities based on data and insights.
- Work closely with product development teams to support successful product launches.
Advertising & Customer Acquisition
- Oversee paid advertising campaigns across digital and social media platforms.
- Manage relationships with external agencies, freelancers, influencers, and media partners.
- Monitor advertising spend and ensure strong return on investment.
- Develop innovative customer acquisition and retention strategies.
- Use performance data and analytics to drive continuous improvement.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Provide leadership and direction across commercial activities.
- Collaborate closely with Operations, Finance, Product Development, and Customer Service teams.
- Build and develop commercial capability within the organisation.
- Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Act as a key member of the leadership team, contributing to wider business strategy and decision-making.
Essential Experience
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in a senior marketing, sales, commercial, growth, or business development role.
- Proven experience driving revenue growth and delivering commercial results.
- Experience overseeing both sales and marketing activities.
- Experience working within a consumer products environment such as skincare, cosmetics, beauty, wellness, personal care, FMCG, health products, or e-commerce.
- Experience developing and executing commercial strategies.
- Experience managing digital marketing and advertising campaigns.
- Experience working with retail, wholesale, distributor, marketplace, or direct-to-consumer sales channels.
- Experience managing external agencies and commercial partners.
- Strong commercial awareness and a track record of achieving measurable business outcomes.
Qualifications
Essential
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, commerce, economics, or a related field.
Desirable
- CIM qualification or equivalent professional marketing qualification.
- MBA or postgraduate qualification in Business, Marketing, or Commercial Management.
- Professional qualifications in sales, leadership, or commercial management.
Note: Candidates must be able to demonstrate a proven track record of delivering significant commercial growth and managing revenue-generating functions.
