Job title: Family Wellbeing Facilitator – Schools/Community Programme

Department: Family Wellbeing Team

Responsible to: Family Wellbeing Lead and Head Teacher/SENDCO

Accountable to: Parenting Project Trustees

Work base: 2 Primary Schools in Warwick, Parenting Project Head Office and working from home.

Hours: 30 hours a week

Contract Term: Permanent

Salary: £28,244 FTE Salary

Term time working arrangements would be considered

Role Purpose

● Deliver the Family Wellbeing Facilitator role, within two schools in Warwick and support families within their own homes and community. Provide 1-1 support for parents through an allocated case load and drop in sessions, group work for pupils, supporting families through a child centred, trauma responsive, person centred approach, where the mental health and wellbeing of the whole family is integral to the ethos of role.

● To work in partnership with schools, parents/carers and children 0 – 19 years of age (up to 25 if Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND), and other professionals to improve the outcomes and life chances for children and their families.

The Parenting Project’ aim is to improve the long term mental health and wellbeing of parents and their children / young people throughout Warwickshire. This means a ‘whole family’ approach to mental health which involves working with families to identify their needs and possible solutions.

Key Relationships:

● Schools, Parents, Carers, Children, Young People, Parenting Project Programmes, Parenting Project Board of Trustees, Volunteers, Schools Head Teacher, SENCO, Statutory and Voluntary Sector Agencies and the Local Authority.

Overview of Key Responsibilities:

● To represent the Parenting Project within the Schools/community Programme, in Warwick

● To be fully involved in the monitoring and evaluation of FWF schools/community programme, providing relevant data and monitoring information to the Family Wellbeing Lead as required.

● Work within identified schools, to identify and reach parents and carers to provide support, information and signposting.

● Provide drop in sessions with parents at the specified schools on a regular basis

● On allocation, develop and maintain working relationships with families (parents/carers, children/young people) enabling them to use their own strengths and skills to bring about change without creating dependency.

● Develop and agree a Parenting Project family support plan with parents/carers/other professionals.

● Work with families to assess their needs in conjunction with other professionals.

● Undertake the agreed work with families, managing individual cases by planning, recording, reviewing, report writing in line with policies, procedures and legislation.

● Attend meetings regarding families, as appropriate to advocate for the family and represent the Parenting Project’s ethos and values.

● Plan, facilitate and deliver Brick Club sessions and Friendship groups with children as identified by the specific school

● Plan and facilitate 1:1 sessions and training to meet the needs of families. Visits will take place in the family home or in school/community setting.

● Use evidence based parenting interventions with families as appropriate.

● Plan and facilitate group work sessions with Parents to support parenting, mental health and wellbeing of parents and their families.

● Offer support, guidance and share information with teaching staff within the 2 schools, who are Lead Professionals within Early Support plans.

● Deal effectively and swiftly with complaints, incidents or accidents reporting to the Parenting Project line manager, Head Teacher/SENCO as appropriate.

● Attend and participate in training, staff development sessions, team meetings, individual or group supervision, clinical supervision and other meetings as required.

● To ensure all work follows the guidelines and principles set by the Parenting Project Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy and procedures, Schools Safeguarding Procedures and the Warwickshire Safeguarding Children Board.

● To have an understanding of all Parenting Project and individual schools policies and procedures, ensuring they are put into practice, including but not limited to: Safeguarding, Equality and Diversity, Health and Safety, Lone Working and Data Protection.

● To work flexibly and occasionally work unsocial hours to meet the needs of families, Schools and Parenting Project as required.

● To undertake any other duties as required in line with the scope and spirit of the job purpose, the title of the post and its grading.

Breakdown of hours

7.5 hours direct time in two schools per school per week = 15

2.5 hours per school per week, to complete tasks in relation to the schools programme, home visits, attend meetings for families = 5

10 hours a week to complete community based support with families, access supervision, Parenting Project Team Meetings, Training – this list is not exhaustive = 10

PERSON SPECIFICATION/JOB REQUIREMENTS:

QUALIFICATIONS:

Relevant qualification in Child Care/ Family Support field, NVQ3 and experience of

working with and supporting families in the home, with children/Young People in

Schools or in another context and effecting change. Essential

EXPERIENCE OF:

Working in a multidisciplinary team. Able to build and maintain effective working

relationships with a diverse range of people. Essential

Managing individual cases – planning, accurately recording, report writing and reviewing – outcomes based approach. Essential

Experience of working with families (children aged 0– 19/25 years) in the home Essential

Delivering group work with children/young people/parents. Essential

Safeguarding and Child Protection policy and procedures Essential

Working within school settings Essential

SKILLS / ABILITIES:

Good verbal and written communication skills Essential

Competent with Microsoft Word, Google and Excel Essential

Confident and innovative in working in challenging situations. Essential

Ability to deliver evidenced based parenting intervention in groups and on a one to one basis. Desirable

Ability to work independently. Knows when to refer to a senior level. Essential

Plan, support and evaluate appropriate safe, creative and stimulating activities for

children/young people and families. Essential

Awareness of a coaching approach Desirable

KNOWLEDGE:

Understanding the importance of consultation with and inclusion of parents and Young People in the planning of services and the need for collaborative partnership working across statutory, private and voluntary sectors. Essential

Good working knowledge and application of data protection principles, including the
