Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Post Office Counter Operator to manage daily postal transactions and provide excellent customer service. The successful candidate will be responsible for handling mail services, processing transactions accurately, and maintaining organised records. This role offers an opportunity to work in a busy postal environment, supporting community communication and logistics.

Responsibilities

Assist customers with postal services, including mailing parcels, selling stamps, and processing packages
Operate point-of-sale systems efficiently and accurately during transactions
Manage cash register operations, including handling payments and giving correct change
Maintain organised records of transactions and postal items
Provide friendly and professional customer service, addressing inquiries courteously
Ensure the counter area is clean, tidy, and well-stocked with necessary supplies
Follow postal regulations and security procedures at all times
Assist with administrative tasks such as data entry and filing using relevant software

Requirements

Driving Licence and passport identification required. No sponsorship available.
Previous office experience or administrative background preferred
Proficient computer skills, ideally including experience with Horizon, although full training will be provided
Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
Excellent typing speed and accuracy for data entry tasks
Good phone etiquette and communication skills
Clerical experience is advantageous but not essential; training will be provided where necessary
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism
Organised with the ability to multitask effectively in a customer-facing role
