Full job description

Senior Teaching Assistant

We are currently looking for a Senior Classroom Assistant to support the Centre Instructor in all aspects of delivering the Kumon Maths and English Programmes. This exciting role involves taking on some instructional responsibilities of students aged 3 to 16 and supporting the Kumon Instructor.

Ideally candidates for this position should be available to assist on both Tuesday afternoon (3.30- 6.00pm ) and Saturday morning (8.30 -12.00 noon). Additional 2-3 hours to be completed at the Instructors home office.

We currently support around 90 students in their studies and the Senior Classroom Assistant plays an essential part in their development whilst also ensuring the smooth daily running of the centre.

Key responsibilities of this role will include:

Setting up and clearing down the study centre.
Providing a professional reception service for the centre when required.
Assisting the Centre Instructor with the delivery/instruction of the Kumon programmes.
Observing students and providing concise feedback to the centre Instructor and parents.
Supporting early learner students on a 1:1 basis.
Supporting students with understanding of concepts being studied.
Preparing, accurately marking and recording students’ work, including on the Kumon Connect.
Assisting the Centre Instructor in the setting of students’ work.
Instruction of students at the centre in the absence or at the request of the Centre Instructor.
To arrange/facilitate student enrolment meetings with prospective parents and students.
Maintaining positive working relationships with students and parents.
General administration duties as and when requested by Centre Instructor.
Promote Kumon’s values in all interactions with parents, students and other visitors to the Study Centre.

Key skills and experience required for this role are:

Ability to manage administrative tasks effectively.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong attention to detail and organisation.
Ability to work patiently with children of different ages.
Basic maths and English proficiency.
Reliable, punctual, and professional attitude.
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced classroom environment.
Previous tutoring or childcare experience is helpful but not always required
A valid paediatric first aid certificate or willingness to participate in the relevant course.

Once selected, candidates will be required to go through enhanced DBS Check. Candidates with valid enhanced DBS checks will be a plus.
