We are a long-established firm of Chartered Accountants based in Eastbourne, providing a full range of accountancy and business advisory services to a diverse portfolio of clients.
We are seeking a Payroll Assistant to join our small team and take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of our payroll bureau service, supported by the Payroll Manager. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and reliable payroll professional who enjoys working independently while being part of a friendly and supportive team.
The role is being offered as either a part time payroll only role (approx. 20-25 hours per week) or as a full-time role incorporating other duties within the practice.
Part-time hours can be discussed with the right candidate. Our full-time office hours are Monday to Friday 08:30-16:30 with a 45 minute lunch break.
Key Responsibilities (Payroll only)
- Processing weekly and monthly payrolls
- Responding to client payroll queries
- Processing pension submissions and payroll compliance requirements
- Completing payroll year-end procedures and submissions
- Assisting with PAYE reconciliations
- Preparing and submitting CIS returns (training can be provided)
- Maintaining payroll records and payroll-related admin
- Assisting with P11Ds and payrolling of benefits (training can be provided)
The ideal candidate will:
- Ideally have 2 years' relevant payroll processing experience
- Be organised, accurate and able to manage their own workload
- Have strong communication and client service skills
- Be comfortable working independently
- Be proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Experience using payroll software (BrightPay would be advantageous but is not essential)
