Are you a Senior Quantity Surveyor ready to progress into a Commercial Manager role? Do you have hands-on experience delivering major construction projects? Are you looking for the opportunity to play a key role in the commercial function on a high-impact prison project? If the answer is yes, then the opportunity below is for you!

The opportunity:

Expanded Structures are the specialist reinforced concrete basement, sub and superstructure frame construction division of Laing O'Rourke and are currently recruiting a Commercial Manager to join the team in Buckinghamshire, supporting the major redevelopment of HMP Grendon.

This capital programme will modernise and expand the estate, driving long-term improvements in rehabilitation, safety, and operational performance while offering the chance to play a key role in a high-profile, complex project with lasting impact.

What will the role look like?

Manage all commercial aspects of a project section, including subcontractors and liaison with clients and project teams.
Coordinating with subcontractors, clients, and project teams to support successful delivery outcomes.
Supporting strong financial, contractual, and commercial management to help achieve project objectives.
Preparing monthly cost reports, contract reviews, BPR information, and business planning inputs.
Managing subcontract drafting, administration, and settlement of accounts and claims.
Overseeing change control processes and ensuring effective risk and opportunity management.
Providing contractual and commercial advice to project teams.
Supporting continuous improvement and encouraging best practice across operations.
Ensuring contract documentation is properly completed and compliant prior to project commencement.
Highlighting and escalating risks or issues that may affect project or business performance.
Supporting the development of colleagues within the commercial team.

What skills & experience are we looking for?

Strong knowledge of NEC contracts.
A degree in Quantity Surveying / Commercial Management.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
A practical approach to managing risk and improving commercial outcomes.
RICS membership (desirable but not essential)
