Full job description

Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Young Persons Support Worker to join our supported accommodation team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in providing personalised support to young people, helping them develop independence and life skills within a safe and nurturing environment. This role involves working closely with young people, ensuring their wellbeing, safety, and progress towards achieving their personal goals and independence. The position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in young people's lives through tailored support and guidance.

Responsibilities

Provide high quality day-to-day support to young people aged 16-18 residing in supported accommodation, assisting with their personal development and daily routines.
Develop and implement individual support plans in collaboration with young people, ensuring their needs and aspirations are met effectively.
Foster a positive, trauma informed, respectful environment that encourages independence whilst maintaining safety and boundaries.
Support young people with practical tasks such as budgeting, cooking, cleaning, and accessing community resources.
Monitor and record progress, behaviour, and any concerns in accordance with organisational policies and procedures.
Liaise with external agencies, social workers, families, and other professionals to coordinate support services.
Encourage participation in educational activities, employment opportunities, or training programmes to promote personal growth.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations within the supported accommodation setting.

Skills

Experience working with children or young people in a supportive or childcare setting is highly desirable.
Strong communication skills to effectively engage with young people and build trusting relationships.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Good organisational skills to manage multiple care plans and documentation accurately.
Proficiency in IT systems for record keeping and reporting purposes.
Valid driving licence is advantageous for supporting young people with travel needs or attending external appointments.
Empathy, patience, and resilience are essential qualities for supporting vulnerable young individuals through their development journey.
