Full job description

Disley and High Peak Accountants is a small but growing accountancy practice based in the heart of Disley, Cheshire. We are currently seeking an experienced Bookkeeper/Office Administrator to join the company on a part time basis, Monday – Thursday 10am – 2pm.

We are looking for an organised and personable individual to join our small team, providing bookkeeping support alongside general office administration and front-of-house reception duties. This is a varied role suited to someone who enjoys switching between figures and people, and who takes pride in being the friendly, capable first point of contact for our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

Processing day-to-day bookkeeping transactions for clients using cloud accounting software e.g. Xero
Reconciling bank statements and maintaining accurate financial records
Processing sales and purchase invoices, and assisting with credit control
Preparing VAT return workings for review by a qualified accountant
Maintaining accurate and up-to-date client records and filing systems
Providing general administrative support to the partners and the wider team
Managing incoming and outgoing post, email correspondence and office supplies
Scanning, filing and maintaining both digital and paper client files in line with the firm's data protection procedures
Supporting with client onboarding paperwork and ID verification checks
Diary management and scheduling of client appointments
Acting as the first point of contact for clients, both in person and by telephone, providing a warm and professional welcome
Handling routine client queries and directing more complex matters to the appropriate team member

Requirements:

Experience in a bookkeeping, accounts or office administration role
Working knowledge of bookkeeping principles and experience using cloud accounting software
Confident, professional telephone manner and strong customer service skills
Excellent organisational skills with good attention to detail
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Ability to manage a varied workload and prioritise effectively
A discreet and trustworthy approach to handling confidential client information
