Full job description

We are seeking a highly experienced and passionate Sous Chef to join our dedicated kitchen team at Dolce Vita. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled culinary professional with a strong background in authentic Italian cuisine and proven leadership experience within a fast-paced restaurant environment.

Working closely with the Executive Chef, the successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining the highest standards of food quality, consistency, and kitchen operations. You will support the day-to-day management of the kitchen, lead and motivate junior team members, and help ensure every dish reflects the authenticity, passion, and excellence that Dolce Vita is known for.

We are specifically looking for candidates with a minimum of 5 years’ experience working as a Sous Chef, with substantial hands-on experience preparing authentic Italian dishes using traditional methods and high-quality ingredients. Applications without this level of experience will not be considered.

Key Responsibilities

Support the Executive Chef in the daily running of the kitchen operations
Maintain exceptional standards of food preparation, presentation, and hygiene
Lead, train, and motivate kitchen staff to ensure efficient service and teamwork
Ensure consistency across all dishes while preserving authentic Italian flavours and techniques
Assist with stock control, ordering, and minimising waste
Maintain compliance with all UK food safety and health & safety regulations
Step into a leadership role during the Executive Chef’s absence

Requirements

Minimum 5+ years’ experience working as a Sous Chef in a professional kitchen
Essential experience within authentic Italian cuisine
Strong knowledge of traditional Italian cooking techniques and ingredients
Proven leadership and team management skills
Ability to work effectively under pressure in a busy kitchen environment
Excellent organisational and communication skills
Passion for high-quality food and exceptional customer experiences
