Overview

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Wellbeing Mentor to join our team and make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people. In this vital role, you will foster a supportive environment that promotes mental health, resilience, and positive development. Your energy and enthusiasm will inspire youth to build confidence, develop coping skills, and achieve their full potential. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to engage with children and teenagers, guiding them through their personal growth journeys with compassion and expertise.

Responsibilities

Provide one-on-one and mentoring sessions to support young people's emotional wellbeing and personal development.
Design and deliver engaging wellbeing activities tailored to the needs of children and youth, encouraging participation and self-expression.
Collaborate with educators, parents, and other professionals to create holistic support plans for mentees.
Promote positive behavior, resilience, and healthy coping strategies through interactive workshops and group sessions.
Monitor progress of mentees, maintaining detailed records of activities, achievements, and areas for further support.
Advocate for mental health awareness within the community by organizing events and informational sessions.
Support children with special educational needs by adapting approaches to ensure inclusive participation.

Requirements

Proven experience in teaching or mentoring young people, particularly in youth work or educational settings.
Strong understanding of mental health issues affecting children and adolescents.
Experience working with children who have special educational needs or require additional support.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to build trusting relationships with young people from diverse backgrounds.
Ability to plan engaging activities that promote wellbeing, resilience, and personal growth.
Compassionate attitude with a proactive approach to problem-solving and conflict resolution.
Relevant qualifications in youth work, education, or mental health support are highly desirable.

Working pattern

Term time every Thursday and Friday 9am - 4pm. Must have experience mentoring children of primary school and secondary school age and with some interest/experience delivering mentoring and physical activitiy interventions. This will take place at a 6th form in South Birmingham.
