Full job description

Job Title: Pallet Network Route Planner
Company: ICT Express (Part of Ziegler UK Limited)

About the Role

ICT Express is looking for an organised and proactive Pallet Network Route Planner to manage and optimise daily trunking and delivery routes. You will ensure efficient vehicle utilisation, maintain high service levels, and ensure full compliance with transport legislation and network requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Plan and optimise daily trunking and delivery routes, including hub runs and local deliveries
Allocate consignments efficiently based on postcode, service level, and network cut-offs
Adjust routes in real time to manage delays, breakdowns, and volume changes
Liaise with depots to meet trunking schedules and network KPIs
Ensure accurate manifests, load sequencing, and service level performance
Maintain compliance with drivers’ hours, Working Time Directive, and transport legislation
Control costs by maximising vehicle capacity and minimising subcontractor use
Communicate plans clearly with drivers, warehouse, and customer service teams
Support drivers daily, including briefings, performance monitoring, and issue resolution
Act as a key link between transport, warehouse, and network partners

Requirements

Essential

Experience in route planning or traffic office role
Strong UK geography and postcode knowledge
Understanding of drivers’ hours and compliance
Good organisational and time management skills
Experience using transport planning systems
Ability to work under pressure and make decisions quickly

Desirable

Pallet network experience
Knowledge of trunking and hub-and-spoke operations
CPC qualification or strong compliance knowledge
Full UK driving license due to location
